You should really try rug/rc from ximian .... they have made installing
anything on a redhat system as quick as typing 

rug install spamassassin

it will fetch and install all of the dependencies and you can do
something else .... or if you use slackware you can use swaret that is
very similar but just uses the ftp mirrors
