does this matter?

It matters because your MTA should be configured not to accept mail from other domains (can be checked by doing reverse DNS look ups on the helo or client MTA) claiming to be from anyone in your domain. It should also be configured to refuse mail to non-existent recipients in your domain.


Sorry, I'm an Exim 4 and Postfix 2 person, not a Sendmail person. Or a procmail person. That's why I complain about people refusing to say what software they're working with. It wastes everybody's time.
