Subject: [SAtalk] OT-spam virus? anyone heard of this?

I checked sarc.com but nothing on it. I heard this on a car board I am on.
Any truth?

"Just a note of warning...

For the last couple of weeks, I have been getting "connection refused"
errors on my Win XP computer at home any time I tried to access web pages. I
got the message on 3Si, SBN, CNN, Ureach.com and even when trying to access
my own router. I could reboot, it would work fine for 20 minutes or so and
then start refusing connections again.

I finally got frustrated and installed Norton last night. It seems that a
program called WebMail_Checkit!.exe would sieze my network connection and
use my computer to send SPAM all over the internet. It was sending at the
rate of one message about every twenty seconds and was advertising penis
elargement pills. What's worse is that it was using my own email address as
the "reply-to".

Just a warning... if you're having *ANY* network problems at all, check for
the SPAM virus. Damn SPAMmers... they'll literally do anything to try to
make a quick buck. "

Check out spybotSD:
http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download

I have spybot on all my machines. It's a freebie, actively maintained and is
quite good at ferreting out spyware and such.
Probably would have picked this up as well, but I'm not going to infect my
machine to find out ;)

Best Regards, Bob
