A typical sales person is not going to want to deal with this stuff.
My mother wouldn't want to deal with this stuff. Ergo, the typical user
isn't going to want to deal with this stuff.

We're geeks, we enjoy making stuff like this work.

Note: Most MUAs will use the From: header to be the envelope FROM as well.

If my ISP ever tried to limit what I could do with my net connection, I
would be switching ISPs immediately. Their job is to provide me a pipe,
what I do with it is my business. If I agree, when getting setup for
service, to not spam, and then I do, then I've broken the contract and
there's consequences associated with that. Some places will just cancel
your account, some places will just charge you per message, some places
will do both. I like the both concept personally, as long as it's clear
that people are spamming. I hate spam, but I also hate people who sign
up to get mails about something, then complain when they get their mails.
(that's why I always (and I mean _always_) make sure that I mark any
available "don't send me email, etc." option when filling out forms.)
