Ok, I did it and it still did not get tagged. It just passed the message 
right back to me. This is what I saw in the logs at the same time:

Apr 11 14:53:51 heinlein spamd[4969]: connection from 
localhost.localdomain [ 127.0.0.1 ] at port 1979 

Apr 11 14:53:51 heinlein spamd[14131]: Still running as root: user not 
specified, not found, or set to root.  Fall back to nobody.
