It's not that.  Knowing the actual results is good, but didn't you
watch any of the news?  People were arguing over whether or not each
ballot counted or not.  It was very close to being a farce.  Several
times they showed the people re-re-re-counting the ballots.  I saw
people moving ballots from one pile to the other while looking around
the room.  Real effective checking.  Not to mention that all the
handling of the (punched) paper degrades it and further reduces the
potential accuracy of the counting.  (note that I never said who
I think really lost, the whole thing was just pitiful)
