Mike,
Err why not set up a LiveJournal Community?
It works really well, better than forums or boards
in my opinion.
And it can be an open community or a closed community.
LiveJourbal never deletes anything, well anything
legal, and the posts can be tagged by subject.
Most important it's free.
I do believe you can post by email although I
won't swear to it, and each post can be followed
independently. I get email notices about new posts
and updates to posts that I'm following in certain
communities. There's no limit to the storage.
Members of the community can post. And you have
control over banning and etc. I'm not sure how
very old posts are handled but you can access them
by tags and by calendar dates. There are also a
few programs that back up LiveJournal accounts.
You can also embed videos, and other media in
posts. I find the Journal community experience
much better than forums and boards.
God knows I don't wait anything to happen to you,
but if something ever did, the community would
stay open. And you have the ability to put someone
else or several someone elses in as a co owner so
if something does happen the community would go
on, and the posts and replies remain forever. :)
Dreamwidth is a newer community and it's very similar.
So is InsaneJournal.
Just a thought.
