I searched Wayne's site but couldn't find any reference to the silverlist. If you know the url, could you please post it? If it doesn't exist any more, is there any way I could get a copy of your data? If it's on a CD, it will be less than 700MB, so it might take a few hours to upload on DSL. If you are willing to devote the time, I have a number of places that can accept large files. I'd be happy to give you the ftp address and the password. Or maybe you already have a free upload site. This would be very good to have so others could also get a copy. It is dangerous to assume what is going on in someone else's mind, but I don't think Mike D. has anything against the archives. I know he was working on software to replace the eskimo archives, but this turns out to be quite difficult. I could write a simple program to strip the headers and the email addresses from a post, but I could not write the code to index the posts by date or by thread. That is beyond my capability. So perhaps Mike D. found the same problem and simply had to give up. In the meantime, probably nobody knew that a service like the mail archives was available. After all, who would want to spend their time and money to start something like that, and then offer it for free? But that's exactly what these people did. I think they started supporting it later with advertising, but so far I haven't seen any ads. In any event, it would be very good to keep backups in the event the owners get run over by a truck, or happen to win the lottery and buy a desert island somewhere:) So let me know if the url still exists on Wayne's site, or if you are willing to upload your CD.
