I do not think I could do a 100 mile diet. There are few places in
the world where a modern, diverse, civilized diet could be achieved
with such things. I live in one of the few areas where it is possible
in theory, but I like my diversity. My routine pantry spans the
globe. I also have an expansive herb and spice garden outside that I
would be reluctant to give up.
That said, western Canada has excellent food for the most part, far
better than they are often given credit for. I have very few bad
meals up there, and I consider a few cities (such as Calgary) to be
very under-rated in the global restaurant scene. There are some types
of ethnic food which are hopeless, but if you know to avoid them the
rest is alright. :-)
