I actually think stocktrap is the better idea.
Simple idea and I reckon people would pay for it. Its like GroupMe
meets stocks announcements.
I'd be interested to see whether you could build it as a web app/
native app and use push notifications. The thing I like about SMS is
that you will always receive it - well in more cases than push
notifications! That is the advantage of SMS over push notifications
(i.e. GroupMe vs Beluga). This data is so valuable that people want to
ensure that they recieve it.
I'm guessing you are using an aggregator like Iguana to get real time
stock data via an XML feed.
Very cool.

I'll be joining the meetup group this Friday for the first time so I
wanted to intro myself here as well.
Economics student by day and web developer by night , now that my
contract job is tapering off thought it best it to fill the time with
projects I find useful.
Low risk, low effort, low reward venture here:www.stocktrap.com.au
High risk, high effort , high reward venture here:www.docketplace.com.au
See you all on Friday.
