Hi All,
I have been lurking here for a while and answering a few questions so I
thought I should take the time to write about myself.
I am one of the founder of Lateral Sands, an ASIC/FPGA design and
verification services company based in Perth (although I am living in
Silicon Valley nowdays). Most of our work comes from Silicon Valley
company's, and mostly in various communications arena's. These days we
are fairly heavily involved in 802.11n and newer 802.11 technologies (11ac).
I haven't really been involved in any software/web development, but I am
interested in it as well as what Australian companies do, so I find the
Silicon Beach list interesting. I personally feel that Australian
engineers (in technology, not mining) are very short changed. We have
VERY well educated engineers but they (mostly) all end up going to the
US to get money/jobs as there are just not the opportunities in
Australia, which is disappointing.
Anyway if you have questions about IC design, or wifi feel free to ask.
Nigel
