ackage to get a working handle. On Windows 7 it always returns
0x80070645: This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.
I tried MSIOpenPackageEx that accepts MSIOPENPACKAGEFLAGS_IGNOREMACHINESTATE
that claims to ignore the machine state. Same result.
Anyone seen this?

Hi al
dotNetInstaller 1.8 has support for custom UI elements. It's not "awesome" or
"template-based", but it's a start. It lets you have custom controls outside of
mandatory ones like the list of applications.

Use a bootstrapper to chain multiple MSIs with pre-conditions.
http://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com is a good choice.

You shouldn't be doing this from an MSI, but from a bootstrapper. MSIs are not
design to run other installers. Try http://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com.
Hope this helps,

reinventing the wheel. I am not 100% whether we dealt with the scenario of
windows impersonation for creating the database, but if we didn't, it's
something that wouldn't be too hard to contribute.

Nope, this an immediate CA, that's all it does.
You can use another immediate CA to delete the file or with some more code
build a deferred CA and/or a wix extension that has this behavior.

This means that maintenance is defined by REINSTALLMODE. You can just put this
in a condition.
NOT REINSTALLMODE
