Yes, there are some known issues now:
* you have to order table definitions correctly to prevent references
to undefined tables
* you cannot mix normal tables (with id field) and keyed tables
on chars, not lines).
The problem here seems to be the browser / editarea, I'll look forward
it and do test in more platforms.
What browser/operating system/editor are you using?

IIRC Massimo said that assuming autonumeric id as primary keys was a
mistake taken from other frameworks, and it is preventing using NOSQL
and full power of some relational databases.
Also, it makes more difficult to do lazy table definitions, migrations

Yes, the idea of this library is to get a simple and functional soap
implementation.
Sadly, SOAP is a very complex specification, so if you want to use all
of its features, you end up in a complicated implementation.
The good news are (IMHO) that most of the real world applications need
a simple and standard way to interoperate, using a subset of the
specification, so the exotic features are rarely needed.
YMMV

AFAIK Reportlab doesn't even have a html2pdf conversor.
If you switch to reportlab, you will have to code your report using PlatyPlus.
You should consider they commercial licence that includes paid support
for this kind of issues.
As you said, the html2pdf recipe is a simple web2py project

For 2011 we already used web2conf (overhauled with a lot of
enhancements), and for 2012, we'll going to use web2conf too.

No, I didn't tried conf2py yet, but we upgraded and cleaned up
web2conf, so it is not so old nowadays.
Anyway, I'll take a look to conf2py, as I need the registration
payment mechanism and a slightly better review workflow.

hout a deep experience in OOP, and in the end you
wouldn't need to write any SQL by hand, as most ORM needs when you
have to bypass their limitations.
Also, there are styling and readability issues, for example, look at
the Django ORM Tutorial example:
Poll.objects.filter(question__startswith='What')
In web2Py DAL it would use more standard python methods:
db( db.Poll.question.startswith("what") ).select()
Which one is more pythonic?
BTW, the ORM example get worse when you must get related fields, use
multiple conditions, etc..
There is a great website with a deep analysis on selected quotes about
this topics:

You can use the previous editor by changing the 10th line in
web2py/applications/admin/models/0.py to
TEXT_EDITOR = 'edit_area' or 'amy'

Warning: that runtime is not shipped by default, and it is a
SideBySide (SxS) assembly, so it is not enought just to copy the dll
as in python2.5
I'll submit the required patch for setup.py ASAP

PyFPDF currently supports jpg and png (binary transparency should
work, but alpha channel is not supported)
You can use PIL to convert between formats as reportlab does (FPDF.php
also uses GD to convert images to png)
Let me know if it works or you need something else,
Best regards,
Mariano
BTW, I'm looking that GIF and alpha channel is supported in FPDF.php
1.7, I'll try to port the changes to python, let me know if you're
interested in testing it.

Hi Bob:
I've added full alpha channel transparency support and GIF format
conversion using PIL (ported from FPDF.php 1.7)
Can you give it a try?
https://pyfpdf.googlecode.com/hg/fpdf.py
(you have to replace fpdf.py file in gluon.contrib directory)

Hi Massimo:
I think you can merge it now, maybe more test would be better.
I'm working in unicode support, if you can give me a couple of days it
will be finished with unittests.
