What is the simple way to get out when only a limited amount of ports are
open. I know that you set the port # on the server side but how do you go
about setting the port on the viewer side ?
Maybe a silly question. I'm not familiar.

The only problem is
Please specify if you have a firewall. If you don't have one then you might
be able to do w/o "socks" unless MACos9 works differently then the Windows

If you're using an OS worth it's disk space, you can just redirect port
21 to port 5500.

I noticed that when running VNC and XP remote desktop on the same machine.
You can only get in with VNC while a user is logged in. Once the user logs
out VNC appears to disconnect the session. Thought when user logs back on
VNC continues and does not require a new session establishment.
Any input
Are you trying on NT/2000 platform or Win9x ?

Do an IPconfig (or winipconfig in 9x), then just fill in http://yourIP:5880
at the browser on the Internet. Don't forget this will only work after you
have configured your port = display # in the properties of VNC server to 80.
Good Luck

Net strat will work locally but not remotely. You will need the "Netsvc"

But Mauro is right, you will sometimes need to reboot or log out to get the
service to start.

You can view the Service name with the Netsvc utility "netsvc /list

Or you can use the display name when inserting in quotes as net start
"service name".

The issue is how to install "remotely" as a service. So you don't have to
visit the machine in person.
It's possible by:
1) Copying the correct files (You only need three and can be placed anyware
- even the Omnithread.dll) to the remote computer
2) Adding the registry key to the remote computer
?
I don't want to install a service remotely. as far as I understand it
the
service is installed and running. Is this "NT speak"?

According to the Documentation it can only be done by modifying the source
code. I found that in win2k it will work by removing the reference under the
"run" hive in Microsoft current control.

Also would anybody know of a batch file that does this( another utility
might be needed to add registry setting remotely thru a batch file ).
