Thanks, but I have been having a look at the pack filtering on the router
and would rather get that working as my computer is completely "Stealthed"
and I would rather keep it that way. I finaly found an example of setting
the packet filtering on their website.

I took the liberty of putting down some pros and cons of both apps.
This is only my opinion and experience off course!
I already 'spoke' to the man behind VNCon, but still:

Sorry I mixed up VNCon with VNC Commander from:

So read VNC Commander instead of VNCon everywhere.
(This is my favourite)

Hi
I'm trying to set up VNC to be run from inetd on UNIX.
Unfortunately the instructions are missing.
It seems to me that "Xvnc -inetd" is not enough.
It returns an usage text to my web browser.
I would be very thankful if anybody could help me locate
the documentation.

Thanks, Got the driver working well under NT4. it did seem to be running
slow thou (using JPEG & JPEG B&W). I wil do some more conclusive tests, as
it may have been the system I was testing it on (I did not have a huge
amount of time).

VNCScan Console doesn't have any of these bugs and is only $30.00 for a
console. I highly suggest checking it out. It's scanner is far more advanced
than vnccon. There is also a new version coming out soon that improves some
of the look and feel and provides some new functionality. Check it ou

Thanks to all that have replied thus far. However, my issue is that
all the documentations describe "how-to" on *nix environments.
While this can get a person started with key generation and
placement, some information is completely irrelevant such as
permissions and file locations. There
VNCScan 3.5.1 released 3/11/02
This release builds on the features of 3.2.22 by making them easier to use.
New to version 3.5.1 is the Windows Explorer type interface. This interface
makes the groups of computers easier to access and manage. Here are the new
features in a nutshell:

Installed the driver(NT4) and followed all the instructions. On the bootup
no errors are displayed but when making the connection from a normal
vncviewer (tightvnc) the server pops up the message box "No video driver

Any idea what is causing the error.

This is a note on the XP-specific side of the GP policy settings issue. Note
that it was done on a standalone XP Professional system.
I did some tests using the Policies key as the location from which I initiated
settings changes, including a logon script which was simply a message box to

An addendum to what Michael posted:
The base keys you mention are not the correct ones (I assume you may be doing
this from memory, not while sitting at the machine). The actual base path

I posted a question about the use of GPOs for VNC to the
microsoft.public.win2000.group_policies newsgroup and got a handy answer from

Two points that are useful:
(1) Async processing can be turned off.
(2) Applicable to Win2K also - the application must be GPO aware. This is

Dear VNCs,
As far as I understand, the default window positioning policy used by VNC
anytime an X-application is starting is to request the user to drag the
window to the desired location on the screen. Is there any way to override
this default behavior so that the window is displayed at the loca
