Hi Tyran!
Terrific! Thanks for your help, you've solved one of my 2 problems.
How did you know about those DWORDs? They do not get inserted by
default.
Perhaps there's one for disabling the "Kill Clients", eh!
If I ever figure that one out, I'd call you all across the continents to
let you know.
Thanks Steve,
I will try creating a reg file to do this for my Dad, but it doesn't really
help with trying to access unix based mol biol databases where I have no
control over the port the server is listening on.
So I still need to try and get the proxy client working.
Any clues?

Also, if you run the TridiaVNC distribution (http://www.tridiavnc.com) or
TightVNC (http://www.tightvnc.com) instead of plain AT&T VNC you can use the
"DisableTrayIcon" registry entry, which would mean you don't have to worry
about the Service Helper.

Hello All,
Thanks for all of the help in getting my VNC set up and running.
Could someone please tell me the steps that you normally take when you are
trying to test out the JavaVNC viewer through your browser?

Hi. I agree that the ChromiVNC server for the Mac is
MUCH more stable than the current AT&T one. One
feature that I miss, though, is being able to connect
to it via a web browser.
In his instruction he says to point the http server to

Now I have to figure out how I tweak the policies in W2K Workstation.

It doesn't even *have* to be port 22. That's the standard port, but you can
configure ssh to use any port you want.
You may want to make sure your country doesn't have any laws prohibiting
data encryption before using ssh, though it does have a 'cleartext' mode
that doesn't encrypt.

Hi Lonnie,
I think you need to set your /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess to allow all hosts and
then it works.
What you need to do is something like this:

Hey all,
I had the same problem to.
My NT server wouldn't accept key stokes from vnc or the keyboard. The only
option I had was to telnet in and start a reboot. I have a kvm with one
other NT server and a Solaris on Intel system. After a year and a half I
found that it happened when the kvm was le
Depends on what operating system you're talking about. If the office PC is
running Windows NT, you could use the Windows Remote Access Service to do
this. It has dial-back capability.

Hi all,
I tried this but did not see the 177/udp or 177/tcp XDMCP listed for the Xserver.
How do we go about opening the port ?

Hello,
I would like to use VNC to remote control my office PC out of my
home. For safety and costs I would like to use a dial-back
connection. How to do that?

Hi,
I have just successfully installed vnc as a service on a RH7.1 server using

I run the service as nobody and am not sure what is the problem as on the
server itself my init level is 5 and I use Gnome.
