Hallo!
The "remove wallpaper" function of VNC-Server 4.1.2 under Win98SE doesn't
work anymore. It did work (in Version 4.1.1) before installing the latest
update (VNC 4.1.2). What can I do? Is there any update fixing this problem?

What is it that you are trying to do?

Hi Ian,
The current x86 build of VNC Free Edition will work on x64 systems, although
you'll want to enable polling in the Capture Method tab, since the hook
mechanism will be limited to other x86 applications.
Native x64 builds will be provided for the next release.

Hi Johannes,
There were no changes to that functionality (or anything related to it, or
upon which it depends) between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, and we've had no other
reports of such problems.

Shamju,
WaitFor.c is part of the X server codebase, not the VNC codebase, so you'll
need a fix for the X server codebase you're using in order to compile VNC
against it.

I just tried it on Win98. He's right. The VNC I had on there was 4.0,
and it worked fine.
So, I just installed 4.1.2, and it no longer removes the wallpaper.
I doubt that change was from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2. More likely from 4.0 to 4.1...

Hi, I've just been installing and testing the free version of VNC with lots
of success. After many years of remote access experience and hardships with
PC products ranging from early versions of Carbon Copy to the latest versions
of Symantec's PCAnywhere, as well as MS Remote Desktop, I have to s
Errm, you had mine . . . ?

Everyone seems to be asking about this but I haven't seen a definitive
answer so I thought I would try again.
So I have the source for vnc 4.1 (and the source for tightvnc 1.2.9, and
1.3.8) and the source for XFree86. I am on an SGI and have libGcore.o
libGL.o, libGw.o in /usr/lib.
The question
You need to patch the source code..there are bugs that prevent GL from
working with Xvnc otherwise.
A complete working tree (with full GLX support) is available at

Hi,
I have looked over the stuff on the mailing list for this and some of the
sites for SSH and what not. I am not very trusting of some of these things,
so I am going to ask for the latest and greatest answer.
1. Is using SSH the best way to use Real VNC over the Internet?
2. What softwar

RealVNC doesn't include any file transfer utility. One advantage to
using ssh for the tunneling is you should be able to use scp or sftp to
securel
Forgive me if this has come up before, but I'm new to both VNC and
