Hi,
sorry for the delay.
This might be a permission issue. If it works as root, it is.
You have to add some rules to udev to allow access for a normal user. I
don't know the exact configuration required, just search for udev and
uhd and you will find what you need.
Best regards,
Fabian

Ohh sorry,
just read the error message properly :D
You have an empty device string in your software when opening it.

Thank you for your advice Fabian!
It seems there is no package called libuhd, just the following versions:
libuhd003 libuhd3.14.
Sam:
Yes, updating to the recently released UHD 3.15.0.0 resolved this issue.
Thank you

I have a kernel panic on the E320 with the most recent release v3.15.0.0
(I used the most recent mender process).
Details on E320 to be used in the test setup:
eth0 --- Management - 192.168.1.2/24
sfp0 --- Data - 192.168.10.2/24
root@ni-e320-31BB638:~# ip a

I have an E320 that I initially set up using the 1G (not the SFP)
management ethernet port.
I set up a static IP on it and also set up the SFP port using the SFP to 1G
adapter that came with the E320.
The setup on the E320 is:
root@ni-e320-31BB638:/data/network# ip a

Hi Subu,
when exactly does the panic occur?
Best regards,

I am running Ubuntu 19.10 and am having issues with UHD built from git
source. v3.15.0.0
I have already posted a few messages regarding these issues (kernel panic
etc.)
So I thought I would get the debian package from NI's Ubuntu repo.
When I do:
ramasu@srz4:~/QRC3Git/qrc3/Notes/Misc$ sudo apt-ad
Marcus:
Don't know when. I just left the E320 running overnight.
There is no user code running on it; neither is it communicating with the
host or doing any Rx/Tx.
I just updated the UHD software/mender on it yesterday.
I had a screen session running and I noticed the kernel panic this morning
As an additional point, I do see uhd-3.15.0.0-0ubuntu1-eoan1 published on

This might be a udev issue.
Make certain that you have a file, 10-usrp.rulesin /etc/udev/rules.d

Lorenzo,
That should be fine.
Looking over those screenshots again, you'll need to change your dpdk
driver path in uhd.conf. Here's what the uncommented parts of uhd.conf
should look like for 17.11:
[use_dpdk=1]
dpdk-mtu=9000
dpdk-driver=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dpdk-17.11-drivers/
dpdk-corelist=1,2,3

Jeff,
Follow-up on this. I ran the GPIO example on my N310 with 3.14.1.1
(g0347a6d8) and all GPIO tests passed. Are your FPGA image and UHD release
modified?

Sam,
Everything was downloaded from the images_downloader. I have not modified the
FPGA image or any of the UHD code. I have just been trying to learn how to use
the N310, and compiling examples on it.
I will be back in the lab tomorrow. Should I go ahead and try installing
3.15.0.0?
Jeff
