Dear Jim;
In my experience, booth MS Office and Open Office can work together in one
computer without any program's conflict because their work in different file
folder and system file;
I allways tell my colleaque who share spreadsheet file to use Open Office
instead off using MS Office;

I'm having the opposite problem: 1/2 does not auto-convert to ½ as it once
did. How do I get that function to work?
Also, I've never been able to get hyphenation to work. I deleted & reloaded
dictionaries, and even uninstalled and re-installed AOO, but no go. (And

I have been trying for some time now to find how to regulate or change
or even disable this behavior. It does not happen in open text, but
only in a table. iF I type a fraction, when I tab out of the box, it
seems to change it into a date. For example if I type 1/64 it changes
it to 01/01/64
Forwarding Rory's answer, below, to Olga who is not subscribed. Olga:
follow Rory's advice below, definitely avoid the us.com site, which is
not under control of the OpenOffice project and has been reported to
offer non-genuine downloads: you were lucky to find it offline... Andrea

will repeat some items for clarification.
You mention "exe" files, so I assume that you are using Windows.
Hopefully someone more well versed in Windows idiosyncrasies will

situation.
When i try to run the software a dialog box tells me there is a problem
with "soffice" and a search initiates
