There should be no conflict.  The only think to look out for us the File 
Associations.  If you have MS Office you do not wish OpenOffice to open MS 
Office files; you may have to redo the file associations to prevent this, or 
else do a custom install, which I think allows you to choose.  Of course, if 
you start up OpenOffice and point /File /Open of the correct component to an MS 
Office file it will open it.
