essentially the same way that Nautilus works--tapping (Ctrl+=) (Ctrl+-) and
(Ctrl+0) would give user zoom-in, zoom-out, and normal view? This seems like it
would make everyone happy. Any drawback to this functionality in the dash?

Has it been settled on the size of the video thumbnails in the Dash Video Lens?
The thumbnails seem awfully small to me. It'd be nice if they were made larger.
I'm assuming this is a fixed setting and not adjustable in the settings.

I agree your "category view" would help make the apps lens better. A few other
additions that would also improve the apps lens would be:
-Filters: If it also shows them by default would work better for most people,
make their browsing easier than the current and minimize their complains.

the global search would return results from the core apps lens and my

Agree, that showing the filter items by default is better and is one less thing
to click on. The gnome-shell apps-view shows these filters by default so you
can quickly switch between them. Also the list view of course could help browse
