Hi Chris. Your solution works for me also but I have to place it in other
tag. It turns out that Acers service had put Aspire 3100 motherboard in
my computer. It looks the same as old one, but it identifies itself as Apire
3100:

I can confirm that the rt_preempt_31.patch is working with the
2.6.31-8rt kernel as of the latest updates.
I used Hardware Manger to remove and reactivate fglrx to get the DKMS
kernel modules to build properly. Running usr/src/fgrlx-8.660/ make.sh
failed with errors. I have the make.sh.log if any
rmmm. I would have thought that incomplete means that there's not
enough information to further locate the problem and hence the bug is
impossible to work on.

package. you can install kdm and much of the rest of KDE without this
package and you get a blank screen.

Confirmed problem on my Dell Inspiron 1545. This is using Karmic Beta with

In my Toshiba Tecra R10 the X-Server switches off the LCD backlight and
I can't switch to a console with CTRL+ALT+F1.

reports again. Use karmic + 2.6.32-rc5. Check also if newest Xorg

Could you get a full backtrace? That should hopefully tell us if this is
a bug in the flash player itself or in the intel driver.

Like you said, I'd very much like to have an “official” way of using

options in grub config file.
Or compile your own kernel and patch it, witch I'll do when I've time...

I also tried the 2.6.32-rc4 from the PPA, but my notebook can't boot up that
version at all. So I couldn't try the suspend/resume with this kernel
version.

yes this seems to be a problem with having 2 monitors on the nvidia

I'm having a similar issue, I think. In GDM, the brightness fluxuates
between roughly 80-90%, and only stops when I'm fully logged in. Once
I'm logged in, the brightness will stay the same (usually very low) and
if I attempt to change it, it will fluxuate between values. For example,
