I've had a good report on Orange broadband, from someone who uses it to
run his business. But the CD only list Windows, and website requirements
state Windows. I've asked about Linux, but while I wait for a reply,
does anyone else use Orange broadband with Ubuntu?

I installed Dapper at Christmas, thinking I'd give myself plenty of time
to play with it until my XP was no longer supported - now I'm using it
full time. :)
I have two hard drives, originally one held Windows C:/ and D:/, and the

I've been having intermittent problems with my PS2 mouse - throws the
cursor round the screen, opening windows as it passes, so I tried a USB
mouse, which worked fine ...
Until I rebooted, when I couldn't log in - the keyboard wasn't
responding, and the mouse wasn't working. I removed the mouse,

IP3000, and they have no intention of releasing a Linux driver. I've
been using the TurboPrint driver since May with no problems.

I have a Canon Lide 25 scanner on Gutsy - the hardware pages report that
it works out of the box, which is why I chose it.
It scans OK with Xsane, but when the scanned image window comes up it
fills the whole screen, covering the panels. There's no border,

I've just had an important email bounce because when I typed in the
email address (which isn't in my contacts list), Evo capitalised the
first letter.

on the update manager which is greyed out, libgtk1.2 (for GIMP) listed

I deleted one of the user accounts on my PC (Ubuntu 8.04). Their home
directory is still there. When I try to add them back in, it won't let
me use that home directory for the account - I assume this is a security
feature on 8.04 as I've done it before on previous versions OK.

working. The cube doesn't turn when I change desktops, or when I click

My son's just started college, and one of the programs he'll be using is
Macromedia (Adobe) flash.
Neither of us want to waste disk space on putting XP back, so can anyone
recommend an alternative for him to use at home? Ideally he'd like to be
able to work on his files both at college and at home
I'm ready to remove my old XP partition - I need the space to extend my
Ubuntu backup.
I have two drives, XP and Ubuntu backup is on one, and Ubuntu root,
home, swap is on the other. These drives are quite old, only 30Gb each.
In Gparted, the XP partition is flagged as boot, lba - if I just delet

Last night at a performance of Return to the Forbidden Planet I saw
three "spaceship monitors" running Ubuntu. Nice to know it will be here
for our great-great-grandchildren. :)

Basically it's stay with 8.04 until the driver's released, upgrade to
8.10 and make do with the open source nv driver included, or try the
Nvidia beta which they released recentl

When I installed Ubuntu two years ago, it picked up my ntl/Virgin cable modem
immediately. The modem was using a USB connection.
Last week the gas company dug up the pavement and managed to break my Virgin
cable and, as the Virgin engineers found today, also concrete over the break.

I've got an Nvidia GeForce4 MMX440, which worked OK until 8.10, when
special effects stopped. I tried the new driver but had problems, so
I've managed without special effects. I was using 96.45.07 - I saw
