You do? Why?
Do you use your VM to access the Internet? If not, it probably doesn't matter.

Hi
I am running 32-bit Xubuntu and use a Virtualbox VM to run 32-bit XP. Since
that is about to go out of support I see the need to replace it with a VM
running Windows 7 which, of course, is 64-bit.
Can anyone advise on whether/how I can run 64-bit W7 in 32-bit Virtualbox? If
it can be done,
Looking on the wine forum, running sage is a mix of alchemy and magic
spells. Certainly not for the faint of heart, but evidently possible. My
fall back, M.Y.O.B. (that we use) is also crippled.

You cannot install a new version of VirtualBox unless you uninstall the
old one first.
Uninstalling the old version will not delete your settings. I have
upgraded VirtualBox several times, and each time I have to remove the
old version (via Synaptic) and then install the new one, from the .deb

As for your existing virtual XP I can't see upgrading the Virtualbox

I tried installing with gdebi and it refused to install due to unmet
dependencies. But it did tell me what I needed to install, which I
installed with synaptic, and then gdebi let me install VirtualBox.
Although I do not know why it needed an extra file, as I had 2.2.4

If you either use the repository Innotek/Sun/Oracke/Whoever provide
and install via apt/aptitude/synaptic then it will resolve that

You also need to install libcurl3 if you do not have it already before
installing VirtualBox 3.0.

The latest version is 3.0.0, which I only just discovered when checking
the download page. I was using 2.2.4, which was good.
Do not use the Ubuntu repository version, as it does not have support
for USB.

Specifically, the PEUL version 0f 2.0.6 from Sun supports for USB; the
version in the Hardy doesn't. Does that ring a bell?

I am now using the Synaptic Package Manager to remove the old version
and install the new version. However, I still do not understand why the
update manager still offered me an older 2.0 version, even though the
2.1.4 version is now in the repositories.

hi,
Im trying to run virtual box..but i get this error message :

The VirtualBox kernel driver is not accessible to the current user. Make sure
that the user has write permissions for /dev/vboxdrv by adding them to the
vboxusers groups. You will need to logout for the change to take effect..
