I just upgraded my Ubuntu machine which I mainly use for my svn
repository. Reason to upgrade was to get of svn 1.4.3 to something more
recent, i.e. 1.5.x or even better 1.6.1.
Was searching around but have not found instructions on how to get svn

I had problems with the internal wireless, some Broadcom chip, I could
never make it connect to a network reliably and some it refused to
connect properly at all.
The dongle and wireless works perfectly in XP, although if I leave the
dongle in while booting up the

You say that the DNS stopped working? It doesn't seem likely.
Can you ping your router via the IP address?
`ping 192.168.0.1` (or whatever) should work regardless of DNS, while
`ping my.router.com` (whatever your routers dns name is) relies on DNS.
`ping www.google.com ` will resolve the IP addr

Hi Rob, I contacted VIA, who told me they have written an upgrade to
their via cards that allows compiz to function. Unfortunately, I did
try to install it, but as I'm only a beginner I couldnt get it to work
but they assured me that it does work. I dont know of any body else who

Sounds like what I experienced. I found that using the 'Safe' Video
Mode (vesa driver) worked okay albeit slow.
I found this on the Ubuntu forums, not sure if it'll

Hi John,
You can downgrade the packages to return to 8.04, but it's much easier
(and more reliable - what if you miss a package?) to re-install.
Hope that helps.

Hi, thank you for your message. I have posted about 3 or 4 things to
Launchpad, and none of them have been answered, I keep getting messages
saying that they have been closed due to inactivity, so you will have
to excuse my reluctance to post there. Its an upgrade. How can I go
