I just wanted to report back that although it happens less frequently,
Gnome Shell still crashes no matter what version I use. Since then,
I've been using the KDE Plasma Desktop and it's been stable. Not only
that, but certain applications that would cause the system not to
respond are now workin
Keith, I'm glad to see you got everything working. Do you mean you
uninstalled the gnome3 package? If so, how did you get the gnome-shell
working correctly? Just removing the ppa wouldn't have had an impact on
your current situation, it would merely prevent future updates from
being retrieved an

Thanks for clarifying. Before you followed up with your comment, I
double checked and realized I actually have the default gnome shell
installed from the ubuntu repositories already. I then added the one
you just purged and removed, then upgraded. The weird part is that
since I did that,
