This workaround worked for me in fedora. It may work in ubuntu too,
since I suspect it is a bios issue. I had the same problem in Fedora. I
installed ubuntu to see if that would work better, but it did not. I
installed fedora again. What finally solved the problem for me was going
into the bios set

I still have the same problem. I found NetBeans uninstalled last week, and I
could not reinstall it again using apt-get. I had to use aptitude which
downgraded tzdata. Now, each time the Ubuntu update manager starts, it asks me
to do a partial upgrade, which would reinstall tzdata, and remove Ne

I tried similar steps and it worked correctly this time.
I still have the commands which created the wrong branch sitting there
in a terminal so I know I didn't dream it. However, I can't reproduce
it at this time.

This is also affecting me, sometimes it shows short descriptions, sometimes not.
It usually cuts off the short description after hitting Check though.
I'm using Compiz+GNOME if that matters.

I have the same problem, but even after I removed the password from the keys,
it keeps failing to connect. It seems to fail the MS-CHAP authentication.
As I can understand from the last posts, there is no fix to be expected,
because no one knows how to release it or wants to do it. I am more and

The above solution is not for Vaio owners with an Intel chipset I guess,
the hotkeys still do no work on my laptop, running up-to-date Intrepid:

No, I didn't follow those instructions, I am using the workaround you
mentioned in a script to set my brightness but this is far from ideal, a
fix would be great. I guess I am suffering from two bugs ?
1. The xrandr bug, or is it a bug in xserver-xorg-video-intel ?
2. sony_laptop kernel module not
