I have tested the device with a live usb on 12.04.2 without success on both 
32bit and 64bit kernels.
So no it is not working out of the box for any distro from 12.04 or above at 
least. The only solution is to use the patch I mentionned earlier.
After the boot it works very pourly for a couple of minutes before crashing :
58 Ko/sec instead of 1700 Ko/sec
ping results are : rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 45.3/51.7/220.0/18.1 with 1% packet 
loss.
