theme to QtCurve. I have gtk2-engines-gtk-qt installed and can use it to
set the GTK theme for the current session, but when I log back in, it
gets reset to QtCurve.

reinstalling didn't help me either.
it seems that firefox now has 2 flash plugins (that is what i see when i look
for installed plugins), one is from swfdec-mozilla and the other from
flashplugin-nonfree. i can disable them but not remove them from FF.
disabling the first in firefox disabled fla
startkde is clobbering the .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 file at log-in, starting at
line 145. I can understand that the default GTK theme in Jaunty is going
to be qtcurve now instead of the gtk-qt engine, but this change prevents
me from using any other GTK theme!

I can confirm this on my 64-bit system (latest Intrepid) as well.
double-clicking and file->open both get me "Could not determine type of
stream." Once I got the above mentioned "text file" error but cannot
re-create it.

properly! Adding "#EXTM3U" (no quotes of course) as the first line in

I am running Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop. I installed Ubuntu
8.10 and it loaded without any problems. I updated to 9.04. When I did
that I was unable to boot with the new kernel, 2.6.28-13. I kept
booting with 2.6.27-14. Then an updated kernel was released, 2.6.
nd then does nothing forever. I've left it run overnight there, and
nothing happend. Eventually, I press CTRL-C and the installation
process unwinds with the expected errors. If you'd like more info from

Im running edgy for a while now and did an update of all packages with
aptitude as usually, and on reboot I noticed that my fstab got
corrupted.
Here is an excerpt of it. All entries are corrupted in this way.

remember, this check is a feature, not a bug ;-) It detects broken raid
bioses which assign an erroneous number of blocks (not divisible). So,

So we can confirm that the bug is fixed in rc11 of dmraid! It would be
really bad if dmraid rc11 would not bee included in edgy. Since this is
a bugfix for the otherwise not working dmraid in the current repo, I
guess there will be an exception made for that package to go into edgy!?

Being a long time user of Gaim and Pidgin, I'm used to it foibles but
they have got a great deal worse as a result of the gui / libpurple
split.

I had the same problem (Intel + Geforce 6600) and the second update on
2.6.22.13 fixed it.
For the record, I was able to log in using the command line, but when I
tried "startx", I got an error saying that my xorg.conf could not be
loaded because the devices could not be found. I have two screens.

It never gets as far as apport. The GUI hangs and never recovers (that's
what happened with the second backtrace) rather than segving.
As it happens when a podcast has finished downloading but before
rhythmdb.xml is updated, it might make sense that it's some thread
related write locking problem o
I see two different solutions to help in these situations:
1- A community-based feedback. For example, after updating your system,
you could push a button indicating whether or not this update was
harmless (or solved a bug you had or crashed your system or whatever).

For me it's simply a matter of start rhythmbox, click the update all
feeds button, wait for a podcast to download and then rhythmbox will
freeze. I haven't done enough testing of the autmatic updating to know
whether it fails in the same way, it's worked once successfully.

Compiz is certainly an interesting wm. After 4 days of testing (since
your comment) with metacity, I've come to the conclusion that you have a
point (i.e. that compiz is an issue).
Under metacity, when I click a tab or hit a conversation menu I get a
pause of 1.5 seconds + before the operation com
Ralink driver is under heavy development. If may be already solved, but
I'm quite sure this can't be done (or is very hard to do) in this kernel
version. You can try to compile newer version yourself.

"Name only" and "Description only" works for me on Gutsy.
The two other options, Name - Description and Description (Name),
produce _: Entries gibberish.

I too have experienced the exact same issue.
My system only has one SATA drive and an Intel chipset.
I installed only days before using a daily build and that went without
issue.
I was able to install the beta using the alternative image.
