backlight consumes up to 100% of CPU. (Reference: bug #285323, comments
56 & 57). Shouldn't that be a reason too to revise the hald-addon-
backlight?

Personally I don't think Bug 200936 is the same as this one, because:
1. The error message isn't the same, so the trigger for the error message can
be different and so can be the cause for the error.
2. This bug receives an corresponding entry in /etc/mtab, while Bug 200936
receives an error stat
Personally I think that having more than one filesystem on the external
HDD, with one of them NTFS, is the source of the problem. I have read
posts on ubuntuforums.org which are stating just the same problem.
And Bug 199005 gives an different error message than this one, so the
trigger for the err
