I am also having the same problem (with Intrepid).
With the Intrepid updates of the last weeks, rhythmbox improved a little, but
the problem is yet not solved.

I upgraded to 8.11 via Synaptic on intrepid this morning but Xorg
started in low res mode.

I'm also experiencing the same error using NetworkManager 0.7 on Ubuntu
8.10 with an atheros card. Oddly enough, it even comes up when
NetworkManager sees that I have a wired network connection. However,
this does not happen 100% of the time which makes it very difficult to
track down.

I think List View should work the same as Compact View. Isn't it
possible to replace some code of List View with the code of Compact
View? In Compact View everything works as it should be. Only the

I ran into the same problem on my DELL laptop (64-bit Jaunty) after it
"froze" last night and I had to force shutdown. In any case, I ran:
sudo update-apt-xapian-index
and the problem appears to be fixed - Synaptic works once again.

I'm having the same exact problem, and the SSH_AUTH_SOCK=0 fix works. I'd
remove all my config files like previously posted, but I don't want to
reconfigure everything. I've tried search all of the folders Cédric Jeanneret
said were deleted for SSH_AUTH_SOCK and even SSH, but turned up nothing.
By default TSClient uses the protocol "RDP". This gives me an error
everytime. After switching the protocol from "RDP" to "RDPv5" I haven't
encountered anymore problems. I've been using "RDPv5" for more than a
month now and everything works flawlessly.

When I have my laptop plugged into an external monitor via a VGA cable,

network. Killing "telepathy-butterfly" fixes the problem here too. But

OK, I have upgraded again to jaunty.
X hung because it still used the radeon driver but tried to load some fglrx
extensions.
Forcing it to use fglrx results in error message that states that no supported
devices are found. (X1600 mobility is not that old...)
Running RadeonHD now...

That's too bad. It's a shame that the fglrx drivers are so "fragile"...
The radeonHD works at least, but I have no 3D acceleration.
Don't understand why it's that hard for Ati to deliver working drivers
for his customers.

This is affecting me as well on the 9.04rc, with the same
settings/symptoms as the original post. While looking up this bug
report, I noticed a somewhat similar problem with network-manager-pptp
that was resolved by fixing dbus permissions (bug 343270).

Actually, reading off that other bug, I added the at_console permissions
to /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-vpnc-service.conf and fixed the problem. A
patch is attached.

The upgrade tool warned me that fglrx won't be available and after the
installation the xorg.conf was configured to radeon. So I don't think
that's a problem. My problem is just that I'd like to have my
accelerated driver back :-)

I am seeing the exact same issue with Jaunty, here is my information.
