Well, I don't know. For the first part, I didn't even know how to
reproduce it first when it happened. It crashed, and the crash-reporting
tool (was it's name Apport?) popped up and asked me to report the bug,
and so I did. Besides, I don't even use ogle anymore. So I think this

Well, changing this behavior won't prevent totally stupid users (like
me) from doing stupid things. But in the current form as the idea is, it
will definitely help to a certain degree. It is more like a quick hack
to provide some kind of hint to the user to not do a stupid thing in
some situations.
I have now booted a lot of times with Hardy, with HT enabled, and it
works like a charm. So the bug could be closed altogether now.

This bug is present for me now, using Hardy and a Nvidia Geforce 4 MX
card, Philips 201b4 monitor. I think it used to work in Gutsy, but don't
do after the upgrade. Booting up with the monitor turned off gives low
resolution (640x480), and it get's fixed if I restart X after turning
monitor on.

logging in did not work even the first time on the first boot. I had to
try several times before I got a successful login. What did solve the
problem for me however, was putting the computer in uniprocessor mode,
ie. disabling Hypert
Debian bug 455 694 seems to be solved as the source for the
setuid/setgid messages are fixed. However, those messages are still
there for me, even though login and the rest of the system works
perfectly. So in my case, this will probably not solve the problem.

I think there is a good reason that they are not using bootlogd by
default. I think I read somewhere that bootlogd is quite buggy on some
systems, and it is hard to make it work correctly the way it is
designed. So the proper fix in the long run would be to redesign it

probably the wireless driver is to blame for the lockups. 64-bit or
32-bit does not seem to make any difference. If I disable the wireless
functionality by pressing that button on the computer, it won't lock up.

I tried installing xorg-driver-fglrx, but that didn't seem to make any
difference.

I've had the same problem, but just on my front ports. And I'm pretty
sure it is because the wires are longer, and of lower quality, to the
front ports. The back ports are connected directly to mainboard, via a
riser. Usb 1.1 devices (such as mice and keyboards) work at the front
ports, but not usb
FYI: I've filed a wishlist bug about automatic fallback to usb 1.1 if
2.0 doesn't work. In that way you won't manually have to unload ehci-
hcd, so it could be some sort of workaround for your problem here (at
