pulseaudio floo
See attached file with pulseaudio log debug mode running for a couple of
minutes. It starts flooding the network immediately as it goes up, it
then later started with the alsa-sink rewind stuff, which I'm pretty
sure is not related.

I get this in the syslog - though it might be relevant:

pulseaudio floods network with multicast packets

You received this bug notification because
If I use padevchooser to specifically choose the internal audio as both
default sink and default source, the network traffic is reduces somewhat
but not by a lot (about 10%~20%).
I can cause pulseaudio to stop flooding the network completely by
disabling the rtp-send module using gconf. I'll keep
Seconded - my laptop died of heat yesterday as I've put it in my bug
without verifying that it indeed suspended, which it didn't because I
chose "suspend" in "When lid is closed". (it came back to life after I
cooled it and it doesn't seem there was any permanent damage, but
still).

Happens to me also when opening a Javascript file (possibly same issue -
the cursor is located towards the end of a long line when no line
wrapping is enabled).
Opening another file first solves the problem for me.

During game pauses randomly and sponaneously

Sorry about the late reply - I'm moving to a new apartment and haven't
got much time. It took me a while to figure out what is KMS, and then to
try to disable it. When I add i915.modeset=0 to the kernel command line,
it complains that its an unknown boot option and modinfo shows no such
parameter s
With KMS disabled, the screen also no longer changes refresh rates when
docking and undocking.
I'll enable KMS and check if I can reproduce the refresh rate change
again.

Ok, I used the kernel command line param and indeed the display names
are as you specified. When KMS is disabled, there is no
/sys/class/drm/card0-LVDS*/modes file.
Here's the output of xrandr:

Thanks for the fix, now the applet responds to my clicks and shows a
nice "sleep not allowed" icon - but it does NOT prevent the laptop from
suspending.
With the inhibit applet active ("no sleep" icon showing on the panel),
closing the lid immediately suspends the laptop. The applet now responds

Interestingly enough, when the inhibit applet is active - while it does
not prevent the laptop from sleeping - it does prevent the laptop from
shutting down: When I try to shutdown or restart the laptop I get the
session manager window shown in the attachment.
It stays like that until I deactivate
