No, that's not true. I have such a freeze even after a lot of activity, though.
Certainly a suspend/resume cycle trigger the bug, but that's not the main cause.
If I have a lot of windows opened and I activate the "scale" compiz effect I'm
almost certain that the animation will freeze.

This is quite an annoying bug because it reduces battery life.
It doesn't happen with Banshee or Skype for example.

There is still a small problem regarding this bug in jaunty beta.
If I disable the wifi before suspend, when I resume it doesn't activate anymore.
The only solution is to:

I'm sorry for the delay, but I've been quite busy.
The problem occurs when I hibernate and then I suspend. It doesn't come
back from suspend, while if I do hibernate again it works without
problems.

I haven't got a "master" item in alsamixer. The volume control keys changes the

There are two different modules for asus laptops: asus_acpi and asus-laptop.
asus-laptop is the new version of asus_acpi and it should be removed.
asus_acpi is enabled by default and so the laptop isn't recognized.

I fixed my problem added this line at the end of the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
file:
blacklist iwl3945
Then I added in the /etc/modules file:
mac80211
iwl3495

Is your touchpad a synaptic one? If it's the case there is a wrong
configuration in your xorg.conf file. Try replacing that with this:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
Option "Device"
I have had exactly the same problem until 5 minutes ago. I'm using an
Asus A8JS laptop and I upgraded the acpi4asus module to version 0.41.
That solved all problems with that version of hal.

That solved my problem too!
This is a problem of the upgrade from gutsy to hardy: the ipw3945 driver
leaves an udev rule that must be deleted to make the new iwl3945 working
properly.
