Reading the thorough explanation on bug #66104, it says

version prior to Feisty final or Gutsy (your tablet won't work by
default in Gutsy, but that's another bug ;) ).
I'm closing this bug now since Feisty and Gutsy definitely have
xorg.conf pointing to /dev/input/wacom.

Same bug in an up-to-date Karmic. It would be pretty confusing for any
non-en locale user, since the layout of their keyboard isn't respected
by default by IBUS.

menu item, they should also fix the tool tip so it offer meaningful
information - most people won't know (or remember) what IBUS stands for
or what it is, and probably shouldn't have to. The Preference menu may

Or the package could just ship and install (a) PNG icon(s) in addition
to the SVG one(s) -it's done by other packages, and wuold prevent adding
Just One More Useless Dependency.
By the way, am I alone in thinking the default IBUS icon stands in a
Gnome desktop like an elephant in a china shop?
