Same here. "Start GDM" only tells me that GDM is already running. "restart gdm" works and brings me to the login screen. But I only tried that once on tty2 (got tty1 to lock up by running "startx") as I only just ran into the bug when booting the system a few minutes ago after yesterday's updates.
