ok, I've found an old vanilla brand USB keyboard and tested - the F1 -
F12 keys work fine.
So it seems that something in the upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy has caused
the function keys on the Apple keyboard (F1 - F19) to stop working.
I'm not even sure if this is a KDE bug anymore ?

i removed the package and am doing an upgrade now which at the moment is
working...
we'll see if it works, and if i'm able to start X when the upgrade is finish

The weird thing is, hitting Alt+F2 on my laptop keyboard runs Krunner.
If I do an Alt+F2 on my USB keyboard (a new Apple Slim USB keyboard)

okay, so i force removed the esound package from gutsy,
and then doing sudo do-release-upgrade seems to be working away and currently
downloading packages...
the gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade" and then upgrade-manager upgrade fails, it
still freezes...
so if you have the alternate cd then it's not

/etc/apt/sources.list to a non ubuntu server and it was fast...
oh well...
everything is fixed now for me, although i never used the gui upgrader...

My system has this bug as well, it has an NVIDIA card using the nvidia-
glx driver. It can restart and shutdown but not log out. Restart X does
not do anyting, Ctrl-Alt-Del required to get the system back. This
happens with KDE3 and 4.

KNetworkManager would be in a loop trying to a bring a device up.

I got this problem as well after upgrading from 4.0.0 to 4.0.1 - kdm-

Running the latest PPA packages from Kubuntu KDE4.0, I cannot get an
admin mode in the KDE4 System Settings to manage "Login Manager" or
"Date/Time"

Running it as Martin suggest from the shell works for me. It would be
better to have a password prompt for modules that require admin privs.
Note that running it like this:
$ kdesu /usr/lib/kde4/bin/systemsettings
QMutex::lock: Deadlock detected in thread -1235896640

Same here, fully updated 4.01. Turn off has a little down arrow, which
on mousedown gives the two options - neither do anything when pressed.
Hibernated and slept ok during adding this comment by using the scripts
in /etc/acpi/
Probably a KDE bug ?

i tell a lie, I can duplicate integr8e's kate issue in KDE 4.0.1 - same
thing happens. The message appears after quitting Kate.
Does "not in Ubuntu" mean that this is for bugs.kde.org ?
