2.6.27-rc8 prepatch, launched make oldconfig once accepting the default answers
it proposed and a second time saying "no" to all of them.

answer it has not got any kernel for this command;
2) i choose plain linux and the boot window app
i have downloaded again the iso which i burnt with another burner (one
year old, no problem whatsoever till now) now i do not receive errors
with gnome but the installer still crashes at the same point as before,
this time i managed to save the required files on a usb pendrive and
you'll find them

maybe some bios incompatibility? searching google for my problem i've
found a lot of similar problems which had been related to incompatibility with

after the boot gdm doesn't start, i launch Xorg by startx which starts gnome,
panels appear with the default icons and suddenly dies.
i'm brought back to the vc and can read the following:
(EE) open /dev/fb0: no such file or dir
waiting for xserver to shut down error setting
i've upgraded yesterday and the apparmor problem has disappeared, now
the line "Starting AppArmor Profiles" doesn't appear , i can see
"Skipped: /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.firefox-3.5" and the boot goes
on.

the mess was due to the presence of menu.lst in two debian squeeze partitions.
actually i didn't know that grub2 would look not just to /boot/grub/grub.cfg in
