First, why are you trying to install an rpm on ubuntu? You will need to
convert it to a .deb first. Second what kernel is this? is it 5.15 or
6.8? Lastly, when you run echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices//sriov_numvfs try setting it to 0 first and then use 1. Also try
running this command as root.
** Description changed:
[Impact]
AWS requested the following patchsets to support GB200 to be backported
to 6.8 kernels and newer:
- -
https://lore.kernel.org/linux-iommu/0-v9-5cd718286059+79186-smmuv3_newapi_p2b_...@nvidia.com/

This seems to be related to source fortification.
If I build the argus binary myself it works with
export CFLAGS=-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=1 ./configure
export CFLAGS=-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 ./configure
but if I do
export CFLAGS=-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 ./configure
then I get the same error as in argus-server 2:3.

At the very least, this will result in IPv6 openstack instances failing to boot:
https://github.com/canonical/cloud-init/blob/main/cloudinit/sources/DataSourceOpenStack.py#L78
I think this needs to be treated as a critical issue.

It built successfully just before Ubuntu 25.04 switched from llvm 19 to
llvm 20 by default. Debian still uses llvm 19 by default.
