When the VGA cable is attached, the CPU usage of compiz is really high,
initially more than 90%, after a while (~1min), it becomes constantly
more than 65% in `top`.
Without the VGA cable plugged, the CPU usage of compiz is rather low (1%
to 3% in the observation).

I did what you said and restart with a clean profile (even if I did not

Compiz doesn't start at all here.
When I run "/usr/bin/compiz --replace" it crashes.
Couldn't get full bt since when compiz crashes under gdb I have to kill
compiz process to regain desktop control.
Currently running Oneiric fully updat-to-date at the time of this

Based on the latest comments (unfortunately this bug was not referenced

Apologies to Andy for not seeing his request on 12 April. I haven't had
notification and I've moved on since then.
Currently running 11.04 (Unity desktop) on iMac i3 (21.5"). An update to fglrx
and amdcc seemed to fix the display port problem. All runs well on main screen,

This sounds similar to what I experience.
On every cold boot, dmraid fails to create devices nodes for a secondary
software raid 1+0 device, which means that the "failed to mount, s to
skip mounting or m for manual recovery" message is shown. I have to hit
M, type dmraid -an, dmraid -ay and exit s
Reassigning this bug to the aptdaemon package, as the message comes from
aptdaemon, as both Software Center and Update Manager use that now as a
backend.

I forgot to mention that the external keyboard was a wireless one. Today
i've tested with a wired USB keyboard and it worked as usual. So the bug
is still opened but only for a wireless keyboard.
