I have set up a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10.
After some difficulties to boot (the x server freeze sometimes when
booting), I cannot set up my WIFI connection as it seems when I
configure the NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0

I have another interesting behavior from the computer: The problem did
not manifest itself when the X was started in single-head mode and some
time later I plugged a monitor with X running.
As it was expected, I plugged the external monitor on the machine, fired
up the screen resolution utility an

Allow Skype to automatically adjust my mixer levels".

I updated from 2.6.24 to 2.6.27 (From Hardy to Intrepid) and my drives changed
from hd* to sd*.
Since that change, all drives are very slow (HDD and DVD). For burning a 2Gb

Unable to reproduce in amd64 Intrepid (using the Ubuntu packages for
octave-image, new in Intrepid, and octaviz), but note that the original
report was on i386.
That error could be the packages not being loaded (though image is
supposed to autoload on Octave startup): try 'pkg load all'.

It seems to me, that I have found the reason of strange squeak.
When I mute "Front Mic Bust" in gnome-volume-control - squeak has
disappeared, sounds play whithout problem.

expert, I'm scared to recompile the kernel as David Morgado suggests. Does
