Public bug reported:

Hello,
I have set up a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10.

After some difficulties to boot (the x server freeze sometimes when
booting), I cannot set up my WIFI connection as it seems when I
configure the NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0
(http://projects.gnome.org/NetworkManager/) the x server freezes (hangs)
and I have to reboot the system.

Background:
prior to install 8.10, I managed to make the system working with ubuntu 8.04
and proprietary driver (
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#RTL8185L
 )

I have a desktop with Realtek RTL 8185 wireless card.

802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 20)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 7300 GT (rev a2)
...

Note:
I have not yet set up the Nvidia driver since it requires connection to the
network.
