I can confirm this is fixed in Ghostscript 8.61 in hady.
However, imagemagick still uses GS directly without the -dEPSCrop
option, so this bug still exists in imagemagick.
** Also affects: imagemagick (Ubuntu)

I strongly agree with Joel. IPTC is a standard used by many
photographers and the gthumbdevelopers has made it supported in gthumb.
There is absolutly no reason this is built without IPTC-support in
Ubuntu. My guess is that the one responsible for this package perhaps
did not think iptc was needed.
Sorry guys - I have to "me too " on this one. I have a similar setup
using a D-Link NAS. Gutsy was working fine, Hardy is no good.
What I did notice was in ~/.gvfs the volume exists and I can copy etc
from there ok. it is only through the "normal" file management that I
get the same result as ment

Thanks very much for packaging Gaphas, it's a great convenience to be
able to install it so easily from the repositories. I wonder if there's
any chance that the API docs could also be provided, as a sub-package or
whatever?
Currently they're only available online at
