A 'me too' here, having tried every solution google and ubuntu forums
would give me to get S-video started without success (i.e. messing
around with xorg.conf and xrandr, which does detect a television). I
have used another laptop with ATI video card and plugging in the svideo
cable immediately gave the ubuntu desktop on the TV screen (as a clone).
However, for my HP 7610b with X3100 video it didn't work.
