I'd like to post an update. I can confirm that driver 2.3.0 + latest
DRM does fix the problem. 2.3.0 alone still locks hard. You need the
latest DRM (I used HEAD on Friday 16th May). That is the kernel part.

Confirmed. Audacious handled m3u files with relative paths in Gutsy,
but it fails in Hardy. It works when the paths in the m3u file are
absolute, but that's not terribly useful if you ever move or copy your

Sorry for being late to respond but private matters kept me from answering
earlier.
I've now confirmed that the e1000e.ko shipping with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy *DOESN'T*
work for me, whereas the latest driver from e1000.sf.net does.

right way to work around suspend/resume issues.

Sorry for the extremely delayed response. Just to see if it makes a
difference, care to test the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 kernel? It was
most recently rebased with the upstream 2.6.25 kernel and is currently
available in the following PPA:

This bug is still present in hardy, using the current version in hardy-
updates (2:2.2.1-1ubuntu13).
I have attached Xorg.0.log, and xorg.conf.
I will see if i can get a backtrace if (when?) it happens next.
