I noticed this as well. When the format checkbox is UNCHECKED, the
installer STILL FORMATS the swap partition, with the risk of losing data
if another distro is hibernated to that swap partition.

libmagick10 binary package. But librmagick-ruby wasn't rebuilt after
that change, so it still depends on libmagick9. It just needs to be

I have the same issue. Opening a PDF firefox will suggest to open it
with firefox. Strangely when I chose other and in the file selection
chose cancel, the correct program is displayed as default option (in my
case okular).

Well the good news is that the -rt kernel right out of the Hardy repos
seems to be holding. I'll report back after some hours more use but
right now, I'd have expected it to blow up by now.

I forgot to say that in nautilus i can't even see the two partitions on

With the acpi=off workaround, ubuntu loses all battery configuration
functions (predictably).
Also, now that I know this issue is acpi-related, I googled and found
these similar reports, where for this model of notebook the CD/DVD unit
is unrecognised after installing Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu:

Actually, I just did a chroot from gutsy and made an "apt-get update; apt-get
dist-upgrade" which showed, that I am already up-to-date = hardy final!
So the problem does concern the latest kernel in the final release.
I did not have any problems before the last upgrade!

Thanks for caring about gnunet. We did not react quickly enough so that
this was solved for Hardy. This is partly because 0.7.3 is going to be
deprecated in favor of the upcoming version 0.8. We hope this will be
backported to Hardy and will thus solve the present bug.

Really? My battery readings were fine for about an hour, and then it
went berserk. I'm using 64-bit 8.04 final. Please confirm.

I had the same problem as Jimmey described. My broadcom 4306 v03 was working
under Gutsy (probably with bcm43xx), and then I did as suggested
- Blacklisted b43 and ssb in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
- authorized bcm43xx
- reinstalled the bcm43xx-firmware

I just tested under 8.04 final release.
Actually synaptic downloaded ntp packages but the configuration remained in
manual mode.
I insisted to "keep syncronized with", asked me again if I want to download
ntp and then does nothing!
After several tries I just closed the "Time and Date Setting
I've got the fix in my PPA now; go to

Ok, I'm back with slightly more info. When I was typing my last comment, it did
the first freeze I explained in that comment, then everthing came back and i
posted it. Then I decided to try shuting down the comp the way your supposed to
(click the quit icon on the panel, then choose shutdown). I
Hardy Release iso dated 0425 can get Konqueror running on internet
manually, on every boot, so the problem as written can be resolved,
however that is done.
Network Manager disables the internet adapter on boot up, after it is
already running(!) because some (debian?) programmer decided that the
