I have saw more tan 30 updates this morning, and I found the update of
gnome-panel. I updated it, I rebooted all the computer, and finally I began the
tests.
Results:
I have my home (Reus) added. I add a new location, putting only the name and
selecting a time zone. All perfect :)
@Pavel, how did you arrive at that patch as a fix for this bug? (Not
arguing against the patch, just curious). I note that the patch affects
the EXA code in the -ati driver, where I understood this particular
render bug only occurs in XAA, and goes away when using EXA.

Ah. Okay... I've tracked down the problem to synergy.
I use synergy quite a bit to share a keyboard and mouse between
multiple machines. So, it looks like this problem shows up if I start
the synergy client on my laptop. After that, even if I close the client,
the problem remains until I reboot.
I see this too, i.e., logout, login, then trash can is very likely
invisible. The applet is running (e.g., ps says it's running), in fact
right-clicking at a thin region where you expect it, its right-click
menu still shows up. So it's as though it has a very thin width.
I upgraded from 7.10, and
I'm just thinking: If this bug is not going to be fixed before Hardy is
shipped, it might be a good idea to disable the dimming feature of gpm
by default. New users will just be very confused when all of a sudden -

I'm using KPPP to use my EVDO modem. It connects and works properly.
However, NM thinks that I'm offline and VPNs aren't enabled for use.
(same behavior with GnomePPP) Is there a command line way to start the

This solved my problem with shut off on X60s too. Still, it does not
help on my 2 desktop PCs. They hibernate and resume from disk, but they
never shut off after hibernate is finished.

My disks are PATA. With the Gutsy kernel, I had the correct performance
- they were recognized ad hda and hdb.
Now, with Hardy, they are recognized as sda and sdb. This could mean

I'm told component-mismatches-mobile.txt is the one for lpia; please
rename it to component-mismatches-lpia.txt as I think this is clearer (I
personally thought component-mismatches-mobile.txt was a one shot report
generated on request by the mobile team or something).

Removing the gvfs-fuse package doesn't fix the problem, so, it look like
the double mount problem come from something else, but actually I'm not
able to find it ...

Hi,
I'm trying to set up a light-weight but nice looking and feature-rich Ubuntu
8.04 environment.
With several applications open, including Firefox 3 (if I'm not looking at any
resource-hungry sites with Flash or heavy JavaScript), my ThinkPad Z60m
consumes around 19-24W
The fix for this was published ages ago:

* mscore.sh: + Check for module-jack-sink in PulseAudio, rather than
just suspend blindly.
