It actually turns out that you're not using the fglrx driver that the
other bug is about. (You're using 'ati'). So this must be a different
bug. The first line of your dmesg dump is about the natsemi dp8381x
driver, so it looks like there's an issue with that one in resuming.

I can't speak directly for Canonical, since I'm just a volunteer with
the Ubuntu project, but I'm sure they do have one. With the huge

Textmode boot works with vga=865 in grub.
