I just want to add that I've got the exact same problem as Alan Pope.
Under Feisty qemu worked fine but under gutsy I get dropped to an
initramfs prompt (the image is Ubuntu 7.04 server). It's as if qemu
can't see the filesystem in the image.

1) Were you seeing any issues when using a 7.04 Fiesty LiveCD?
2) I'm curious if you are able to capture any more information that may be
output before and after the crash? For example when you first see the boot
progress bar can you press Control+A

problem with that lib.

The PPPoE connection still fails in Gutsy Gibbon Final (7.10) and this
particular bug forces me to use Microsoft Windows for over half a year
now.
I followed the help instructions on PPPoE in the manual (sudo pppoeconf
and keep going), but no positive result.

Which version of OpenOffice are you using? I can't reproduce this bug on
OpenOffice 2.3.0 in Ubuntu 7.10 on either amd64 or i386.
