I made a fresh install of ubuntu gutsy, on yesterday, and I've the same problem. Grub is ok, after I've "not right signal/or not right refresh frequency" message on the monitor and when the login screen is loading, everything is ok again. I've gigabyte motherboard, 2,6GHz Cel.D, Nvidia FX 6200 video card, and samsung syncmaster 551s monitor. I see etc/X11/xorg.conf but in this file I can't see any problems. I change the sync freq in this file, but nothing happens (same problem).
